UNITED FOR CHILDREN

On the 15th of February a selection of our National Women Team took part in the fund raising indoor tournament ‘HCKZ Huis ter Duin Hockey Trophy 2008’ organized by hockey club HCKZ in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The tournaments purpose was to raise funds for UNICEF www.unicef.org. And indeed, with great success!

In front of over 300 guests, the 1st women team of HCKZ, the Antillean National Team and a selection of Germany battled out the ‘HCKZ Huis ter Duin Hockey Trophy’. Under superb guidance of Antillean Head Coach Bas Swildens our National selection had the overall competitive edge over its opponents winning
the fancy tournament trophy for the first time.

But the true winner of this fantastic event was UNICEF and the children around the world. At total of Euro 10,000 was raised to support children in need. It is good to see that top hockey is not forgetting those
who are less fortunate. NAHA’s Technical Director Mr. Henk Pepping was on site to witness this super effort
of all persons involved. It was also a good opportunity for Henk to see the extended commitment of the Antillean National Team promoting Antillean Hockey in connection with this good cause for UNICEF.

The tournament was accompanied by a nice reception with buffet and social gathering where sponsors
and players could interact in a relaxed atmosphere. NAHA wishes to extend its sincere appreciation to
HCKZ and the organization of this fund raising tournament for a job very well done!
