The FIH is publishing annually the modified rules and test new ideas in experimental stages. 

Hockey is played mainly outdoors but there is a variation of the game also played indoors (six a side). The indoor game is less popular in many countries around the world but offers an even faster version of the game. There are continental competitions and FIH is continuously promoting the indoor game as part of the overall hockey development mission.
